Rhett Canipe

Guest Blogger: 5 random facts

April 25th, ‘10

Hey everyone, this is April (www.aprilcanipe.com). I am Rhett’s wife and I noticed the blog neglect my hubby has been guilty of the past couple of  months. In his defense, he has been on the road a lot and busy writing with many talented singer/songwriters like himself. With permission I decided who else better to fill you in on some random facts than me!? So my plan is to give you at least 5 unknown (hopefully) facts about Rhett Canipe.

1. Rhett Canipe is a Southern Man from NC/SC. He spent his childhood in a small town called Shelby, NC until he was 16. His dad was called to pastor Heights Church in Beech Island, SC. He lived in Beech Island until we got married and moved to GA, then back to SC, then back to NC and now to our home in Nashville, TN. Needless to say we have moved 7 times in our 6 years of marriage.

2. Rhett taught himself everything he knows about music. Since getting married in 2004 I have seen him patiently teach himself  to play various instruments. Thankfully his mother was blessed with the opportunity to hear him learn to play drums.

3. Rhett is a Texas Longhorns fan.Do not ask me why, I couldn’t tell you. I just know when I met him he had a longhorn hat on and a longhorn sticker on the back of his navy blue explorer. (Most people that follow him on facebook/twitter during college football know this already.)

4. Rhett played in a hardcore band.He was a bass player in a band called Nobox. They were good if you like that screamo kind of thing.

5. Rhett has worked a full time job since he was 17. My boy is a hard worker no matter what job he has. Here are just some of his various professions in no specific order: Pizza Hutt, Publix, a daycare, painting cranes, Landscaping, employer for the City of North Augusta, and Verizon call center. (that’s all I can think of)

So I know these are probably not the juicy facts you were hoping for but lets take things slowly. Maybe the next guest blog.

If you have requests you can always ask him on http://www.formspring.me/RhettCanipe!

  1. Well April. I find it interesting you chose to leave out Rhetts intense study of tuber vegetables such as parsnips and different kinds of potato. Rhett has been published in “potato Monyhly” and the “new England Journal of Farm Raised Tubers” both fantastic and much heralded periodicals for the tuber afficiando. One of Rhetts songs ” The Eyes Have It” is about the much neglected sweet potato and his despise for EVERY potato left in a kitchen cabinet for far too long. Rock on Brother!! We’re with you. BWH

  2. And, I think he may have got some muscial abilities from his dear old dad!
